Do Modi and his BJP Govt favour Ambani, Adani and Ramdev ?

Folks, I was asked if NDA / BJP Govt is favouring Ambani, Adani, Ramdev, etc.,  by making policies favouring them in return for their pre poll favours. 

Well, Mr Modi has been PM of India for just over 2 years and 4 months.

A new Govt and a new PM usually get sometime to settle down and to decide their path and even the media is sympathetic for a good long time but this privilege was never given to BJP / NDA Govt at New Delhi led by Narendra Modi. He has faced sharp and ugly criticism from the day one, and most often it was without any basis.

As I see it and Modi ji has himself said so at times, that he is of humble background, and this is not acceptable to people who have nothing meaningful to do in life. These people are prone to indulge in sycophancy and survive on doles from the powerful. Modi ji is on target because he cut off this darbari tradition of sycophancy and doles.

These sycophants, spread across the media and also in various other walks of public life, and their political backers can not accept the fact that a poor tea stall worker, who later rose to became a pracharak, a politician, sometime later a CM, has since become the PM of India. Something that is essentially a vital sign of the maturity and the innate strength of Indian democracy, is not acceptable to the anti Modi forces.

Now let us come to the alleged favours to some of the industrial houses. To begin with, please recall that Reliance Industries Ltd, flagship of Ambani group, was set up in 1966 and it grew up hugely in 1970s & 1980s. Congress party, and particularly the then PM Indira ji, was often accused of favouring Dhirubhai Ambani and Reliance.

Ambani group has since grown tremendously and now there is one or more Reliance group entity in every field, other than the banking industry. Today it ts standing at such a high pedestal that even if any Govt or PM or anyone else were to ever think of stopping or hindering their growth, then they might have to face abject failure.

Comparatively, Adani group has come up rather recently, mostly during last decade, and as CM of Gujarat, Modi ji was neither given any credit for nor was he blamed for its rise. Also, allegations of giving cheap land to Adani group turned out to be bogus.

Now since Modi ji is PM of India, he is being blamed for the rise of the Adani group, something that had already happened during the last decade or so, under the rule of Congress. Here too, after having grown considerably in size and other strengths, Adani group is now reaping the benefits of its promoters’ vision and hard work.

Today, if Adani group is being helped by Govt of India, in any manner whatsoever, in their efforts towards growth, it would be for the benefit of the whole nation. Like for example, let us take the case of coal mine lease in Australia. The coal, when brought to India, will benefit not only Adani group, but it will be good for the whole of India.

Essentially, other than some loose talk by sundry opponents of BJP / Modi, there is absolutely no evidence of unfair treatment towards other business houses.

About Baba Ramdev, it is not good to compare him with any business family.

First of all, let us rememeber the fact that Modi ji went to UN in 2014 and succeeded in convincing the whole world community to celebrate an International Yoga Day.

However, even before the people of India became familiar with the name of Modi ji, Baba Ramdev was working hard towards taking Yoga in to every common man’s life. He came in to focus when he succeeded in making Yoga a topic of discussion in every household. There were many Yoga gurus before him but all that they did was either to exploit their connections for personal gains or else, they were busy teaching only the foreigners for big money. In fact, most of them had gone and had settled abroad.

Today, Patanjali brand of Baba Ramdev is growing because of the support of people. Did Modi / BJP / NDA / Govt of India ever ask or instruct any person to buy their products. Its success is mainly due to the rising awareness of the Ayurveda, as an established and reliable system of therapy and medicine. Now let us look at this issue from a different angle. The perceived closeness between Modi and the business houses is not because Modi works it that way but it is rather the other way round. They look close because the business houses want it that way.

To understand it a little more clearly, it would not be otherwise to talk a little of the anti Modi forces, mainly Congress, Communists and the so called liberals and self appointed guardians of secularism. By the way, let me add that it is my firm belief and I may say it emphatically that India is secular nation solely because of its people, particularly its majority Hindu community, who want it to be secular, and it is not because of few muddle headed socialists, and some self proclaimed secularists.

It is no secret that during the long decade before 2014, there were scams galore and our economy was in dumps. For a full decade, not only the common people but the businessmen too suffered due to poor growth and growing prices. It was hard time for business houses because it coincided with the global slowdown and recession.

It is not difficult to see the reasons for the preference shown by leaders of business community. For a while, let us look at it from a businessman’s point of view. It is a well known fact that as per the traditions established and nurtured under the long periods of Congress rule, monetary favours had become almost an integral part of doing business, particularly when one of the parties to trade happens to be the Govt.

It so happened that as against the usual practice of the corruption remaining a well known but also well kept secret, few courageous officers of CAG made it difficult for the Govt of the day to brush aside its misdeeds and the courts, emboldened by the guidance shown by CAG, and also being furious at the disdain with which the whole nation was being treated, came up with one after other rulings and threw away the unlawful favours granted to a chosen few - please recall that all the allocations of coal mines and spectrum were termed as illegal acts and were set aside.

Govt has since resold the coal mines and spectrum and has recovered much of its true value but please think about the business houses. The business houses had paid huge funds, mostly borrowed, and wished to earn some profits out of the business but think of their situation when they had not only lost all the goods purchased but had also to forfeit all the funds paid to the Govt for its purchases.

In my view, this may suffice to explain the reasons as to why businessmen are in no hurry to see the return of Congress and feign closeness with PM Modi.
